Description

Nina takes a walk through the mountains.
Along the way, she encounters inhabited dens and abandoned houses!
But what she really wants is to get to the very top.

A girl and a mountain with their heads in the clouds... Both marvel at the inhabited houses and so many other abandoned houses. Who inhabits these dwellings? The giant mountain seems to care for everyone. And who cares for the mountain?

Nina's new adventure echoes the name of the collection "Not everything that exists can be seen," proposing a relationship between the visible and the invisible that surround the small and great beauties of nature, and reviving for the present a glimpse of the close relationship ancient peoples had with the beings of the forests, the waters, and the air.

Illustration technique:
First, a sketch or storyboard was created, composing the illustrations for the entire book. Then, many experiments were carried out with cutouts, colored pencils, large drops of paint spread with rollers to texture stones, soft watercolors across the sky and clouds, lots of colored paper, and scissors. Tátia Tainá's cut-out illustrations were combined with Paloma Portela's watercolors. All elements were digitized and edited to intensify the color and dimension of the landscapes.

Bag of Treasures:
To promote the book "Nina and the Giant Mountain," a handmade bag was created: Nina's bag of treasures. It was handcrafted and available in a small quantity to promote the book and the world of Nina's activities in nature. The bag is not included with the book, but will be raffled off at in-person storytelling sessions as soon as possible!

But the best part is that everyone can create their own bag of treasures with their own unique style! It can be made with fabric scraps and hand-sewn. It can also be repurposed from an old bag, adding appliqués or a drawing with a fabric marker.

Making a bag of treasures begins with the eye. Look at the ground, look at the sky, discover a dry leaf or a seed, store scents and winds and shooting stars. A little bag of treasures is the place where the poetry of your gaze fits!
